I have been using the speed tester for about 10 mths until Jan 08 when everything went wrong, i removed the speed tester as instructed, reinstalled but all i am getting is message stating ( unable to determine IP address from host name) i am running XP, SP2, as i had no trouble in the pass and i have done nothing to reject the speed tester, i would be most gratful for any advice.

That means the speed tester can't connect to broadbandchoices. Did you setup a firewall by any chance? Or maybe a new router?

Thanks James, no i have not installed a firewall or router. the trouble started last Nov 07, on changing to Dec 07 the tester did not respone to the correct dates, after getting little help from the help line ,i gave up but i do miss using the tester as forwarding the results may help us all get better speeds in the future. I am still at a lost to what i can do, if anybody got any ideas i would be most gratful , i have just tried to install the speedtester again and all i get is ACCESS DENIED. Roger

When exactly do you receive this error message? During the installation process? Please provide a screenshot. I have never came across a simple "ACCESS DENIED" message... yet.

Hello Jimmy, i am not familiar with the screenshot method but i will type the complete message for you, on logging in i click Download Speed Tester now, then click Download Now, this is the message i get.

ERROR, the requested URL could not be retrieved.
While trying to retrive the URL ( http://downloads.broadbandchoices.co.uk :81/st Setup v 2.0 exe ) the following error was encountered.
ACCESS DENIED.
Access control configuration prevents your request from being allowed at this time, please contact your srevice provider if you feel this is incorrect.
Your cache administrator is Webmaster.
Generated Thur 26 June 10 18 gmt by Silicon Onspeed.com (squid/2.6 STABLE 18 ).

Thats is it Jimmy, as stated before it was working for 10 mths and i have done nothing that i can recall to stop it working,
I would be gratful for information on how to create a screenshot.

The problem is to do with the on speed application you got running.

If you disable it you should have no problems downloading the file.

Hello Jimmy, sorry for the delay in replieing, been on holiday, have done what you suggested and it works but now i am getting message saying ( unable to connect to Speed Tester Server, try later ) if i remember correctly that is how the trouble started in the first place, any further suggestions ? Roger

It is probably still the onspeed application failing to connect to our speed tester server. Try disabling it and run a speed test to see if it works.
