Views on credit cards that offer travel insurance are mixed.

While some critiques feel that holidaymakers should take out additional cover even if their credit card offers them a travel insurance policy, it seems some customers only choose their cards because of the insurance deals that come "free" with them.

What does everyone think?

Have any of you had any good/bad experiences whilst holidaying with your credit card travel insurance?

Bought any expensive, albeit tacky, souvenirs that have been crushed during their journey home, only for you to discover that your credit card travel insurance package doesn't cover the breakage because holidays in Mexico aren't actually covered for anything...???
