As a result of Virgin Media's new traffic management system, i'm about to have my bandwidth throttled for five hours each day. I'm not terribly impressed.

There's no such thing as unlimited downloads. FACT.

But advertising something as "unlimited", then saying "If you go over 10GB we cut you off" is blatant false advertising.

They don't cut you off though, they limit your service.

I agree it throws the whole industry into disrepute, but i also think pretty much everyone has got the idea by now that if you spank your connection, your ISP will...ummm...spank you back.

If you're not already aware of this as a broadband user then you need to take your head out of the sand.

Just because I'm aware of it doesn't mean I can't complain about it.

I have just left Plus Net and gone back to Demon who advertise their Broadband as being Unlimited..

However they have a restriction clause in their fair usage and throttle your network down to 128k when you over step this "Fair Usage" limit..

How can this be not contravening any advertising law and why hasn't OFCOM stepped in to stop them using this contradiction..
