How about this one...

I downgraded my broadband to 2 MB (okay stupid thing to do I know)
I have an internet phone and it stopped working.
So,
I upgraded back to 4 MB and.......
Something is not right because all the speed tests (speedtest.net) I do record the my broadband speed is around 16 to 33 MB

Who the cluck knows what is going on there!

It would be good if I could just be that I get that speed, but I dont think I do, and it gets worse.. I think that mine and a lady who lives in the street behind me has mixed up ISP addresses because I think she is getting my internet phone calls to my old virgin media telephone number, which she now has

So, I have no real idea what my speed is!

Love many, trust few, always paddle your own canoe!

I now have VM 20MB BB. I was forced to upgrade as the 4MB service was abysmal and typically delivered around 750KB. For the first few months I was getting 15-20MB but recently it has reverted to around 2MB or less. Appalling.

Can you still run apps like Skype or iPlayer with 2Mb, or does your connection struggle to deal with those things?

Iplayer and any music player more or less dies at peak times with Virgin. im getting aboyt 256k atm on a 4mb connection. I was capped last week for excessive downloading i was getting around 56k from 4pm till midnight.. shame cos it was like a fraction (3GB) of the downloads i normally did in Surrey on Virgin cable (10Gb-15GB) im on Virgin Media ADSL now and its like walking up a waterfall, wet, annoying and pointless. I want to change accounts but my dad is stuck in a contract with them so gonna have to get a new phone line. £124.99 gah and after that im running off to Be Broadband and 24mbps.

Absolutely not! I have your speed tester and check daily. My average is 6.7 mbits. The best i hav had as a one off is 13.4mbits.
I am fed up ringing VM support. They are no support at all. Just give me a load of flannel. Not sure what I can do. I have XL TV and Telephone from VM which is great but broadband is poor value for money.

I have it on good authority that a well known daily broadsheet newspaper is about to do a big expose on Virgin's XL product, so the changes you want may happen sooner than you think.

Just because you're on a 20Mb package doesn't mean you'll get it (or anywhere near it). Others factors come into play such as distance from the exchange.
